How to Remove the Rotor on a 2000 Dodge Dakota
- 1). Disconnect the ground cable from the negative battery terminal, by loosening the retaining bolt with a wrench. Then pull the clamp off the terminal.
- 2). Block the rear wheels using wheel chocks or wood blocks.
- 3). Lift the vehicle using an automotive jack and support with jack stands placed underneath the front frame.
- 4). Unscrew the lug nuts on the front wheels using a lug wrench.
- 5). Lift the front wheels off the lug studs using your hands and set the wheels out of the way.
- 1). Unscrew the bolts that secure the brake caliper to the caliper bracket, using a socket.
- 2). Place a c-clamp over the brake caliper, with the bottom of the clamp against the inboard side of the caliper and the top of the clamp on the outside of the outer brake pad. Close the c-clamp to drive the piston into the caliper.
- 3). Lift the caliper off the brake rotor, using you hand. Attach it to the vehicle's frame using a plastic wire tie. Do not allow the caliper to hang from the rubber hydraulic hose. It will damage the hose.
- 4). Pull the brake rotor off the lug studs, using your hands.
