    • 1). Scrub the chrome using an abrasive powder cleaner with a scrubbing pad. Do not scrub so hard that the chrome peels. The objective is to produce a brushed aluminum look to your chrome. The abrasion effects will give the primer and paint a better surface for adhering.

    • 2). Apply your adhesion promoter to your brushed chrome. Let it dry according to directions, approximately 15 minutes.

    • 3). Cover the surface with a high build primer. Let it dry thoroughly. Drying times can vary with different brands of primer, so follow the manufacturer's instructions. To be safe, give it an hour. At this point, your chrome surface has been prepped for painting.
