How to Replace the Throttle Body in a Hyundai Santa Fe
- 1). Turn the ignition off and allow the engine to cool completely before servicing the vehicle. Disconnect the negative battery cable and isolate it to prevent accidental connection while repairs are in progress.
- 2). Remove the engine cover and locate the throttle body on the intake manifold. Remove the throttle body electrical connector. Loosen and remove the bolts that hold the throttle body.
- 3). Lift out the throttle body and its gasket. Discard the gasket. Clean the mating surfaces of the throttle body thoroughly to remove any gasket material or other dirt and debris with a plastic scraper.
- 4). Install the throttle body with a new gasket. Set the bolts in place on the throttle body and finger tighten them.
- 5). Torque the bolts to 21 foot pounds of torque. Re-attach the throttle body electrical connector. Replace the engine cover.
- 6). Reconnect the negative battery cable to the terminal and secure the bolt. Start the engine and allow it to run until it is warm. Check for secure connections and optimum performance.
