How to Remove the Dash in a 2005 Jeep
- 1). Disconnect the battery.
- 2). Find all the screws that secure the dash and remove them. Screws are usually located in the upper and lower panels near the stereo, underneath the steering wheel, on top of the case encasing the gauges and meters, and also near the pedals. Use a screwdriver to do this. After that, double check the dash area to make sure that all the screws has been removed. Next, place the screws in a cup or bowl for easy access.
- 3). Pry the dash. A trim stick is ideal for use in this situation; however, a flat-bladed screwdriver may also be used. Pry around the edges of the dash first.
- 4). Remove the glove box. Manually unhook the fasteners that secure the glove compartment in place and gently pull it out.
- 5). Remove the radio. First, unfasten the radio bracket with a screwdriver and slide it a little bit so the electrical wires are easier to disconnect.
- 6). Remove the dashboard. Slide the dash a little bit forward and reach underneath it to disconnect all the wires connecting to the car's gauges. After that, slide the dashboard completely and you are done.
