How to Care for a Bright Aluminum Tread Toolbox
- 1). Unlock and lift the toolbox lid.
- 2). Place the applicator tube in the nozzle of a can of 3-in-1 household oil. Place the nozzle about 1 inch from the left hinge. Depress the top of the oil nozzle to coat the hinge with lubricant thoroughly. Repeat this process for the right hinge. Open and shut the toolbox lid to work the oil into the hinge joints.
- 3). Spray lubricating oil in the lock until it fills the lock and backflows out of it. Insert the toolbox key in the lock. Spray the rear of the lock on the inside of the toolbox key with lubricant. Insert the key into the lock and rotate it left and right to work the oil into the moving parts. Wipe any oil drips with paper towels to prevent streaks on the toolbox exterior.
- 4). Spray automotive rubber seal protectant onto a shop towel. Place the damp shop towel on the rubber seal at the left rear of the toolbox lid. Wipe the seal with protectant until it is thoroughly coated. Continue this application around the entire seal on both sides and the front.
