    Snapdragons

    • Snapdragons (Antirrhinum majus) make excellent cut flowers for tall vases. The hybrid Rocket series reaches a height of 3 feet, according to the UMass Extension. These annuals thrive in full sun exposure and prefer well-drained soil high in organic content. Snapdragons come in a full spectrum of colors -- except for blue -- including orange, red, yellow and purple. These flowers fare best as fall or spring annuals, according to the Alabama Cooperative Extension System. Snapdragons will last at least one week as cut flowers.

    Tall Larkspur

    • Tall larkspur (Delphinium occidentale) is a perennial flower well suited for use as a cut flower. Commonly referred to as perennial larkspur and duncecap larkspur in reference to the conical base of its blue/purple blossoms, this flower is ideal for tall vases as it reaches a height of 3 to 8 feet, according to the Utah State University Cooperative Extension. Often found in open woods and meadows, larkspurs thrive in full sun to shade with a preference for loam soil. Bloom time is July to August. Tall larkspur lasts up to eight days as a cut flower.

    Foxtail Lily

    • Foxtail lily (Eremerus species) is a perennial summer-blooming flower that displays spiked blooms in white, orange and yellow. The selection of foxtail lilies works with nearly any tall vase as they can reach a height of up to 8 feet with a minimum of 4 feet and may be cut down to size. With a penchant for full sun, these perennials thrive in well-drained soil, according to the Michigan State University Extension. The vase life of a foxtail lily is one week.
