Dodge in Name Only

• When the Dodge Sprinter was sold in 2007, Dodge was part of the Daimler Chrysler company. That company also included Mercedes-Benz. So, it shouldn't be a big surprise that the Dodge Sprinter is actually the same vehicle as the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. The only real change was the addition of the Dodge nameplate to the vehicle. The vehicles were even built in Germany and then delivered to the United States.
  
  

Larger Than 2006

• The 2007 Sprinter represented some significant changes from the 2006 model year. Perhaps the most obvious was the size difference. The 2007 model was 2 inches wider than its predecessor. In addition, the interior height was increased by a full 11 inches. The cargo area was expanded by 19 inches in length. 127 cubic feet were added to the cargo volume.These changes were visibly noticeable.
  
  

Size Options

• The 2007 Dodge Sprinter had several size options. You could buy it with one of three exterior roof heights: 65 inches, 76 inches and 84 inches. The first two were available on the 2006 model, but that last one was new for 2007. Three choices were available for exterior length: 233 inches, 273 inches and 289 inches.
  
  

Powertrain

• There were two engine options for the 2007 Dodge Sprinter. The standard engine was a 3.0-liter V-6 turbo diesel engine producing 154 horsepower. Alternately, the vehicle could be purchased with a 3.5-liter gasoline engine rated at 254 horsepower. A five-speed automatic transmission was standard on the 2007 Sprinter. The gear shift is an interesting one in that it resembles a joystick mounted on the instrument panel.
  
  

Other Features

• The 2007 Dodge Sprinter included power windows and locks standard. A tilt steering wheel that is adjustable for height was also standard equipment. An adaptive stability control system was also offered as standard equipment on the model. One option included ultrasonic sensors that were built into the bumpers to assist the driver in backing and parking situations. Another option was included for the windshield wiper to sense the intensity of the rain and adjust the blade speed accordingly.
