How to Mount Turn Signals
- 1). Place a cloth on the front fender of your motorcycle. This will allow you to place things on the front fender without losing them and without scratching the front fender.
- 2). Use a screwdriver to unscrew and remove the front light. There are two screws holding it. One on the left and one on the right. When removing it, pull it up and then out to get around the plastic lip on the top that would otherwise hold it in.
- 3). Pull the mechanism connecting the light to the bike. It should come out easily when you simply pull on it with a small amount of force.
- 4). Remove the plastic shell holding the light casing in place. Use pliers to loosen and pull out the two bolts on each side holding it in place. Removing this allows you access to the bolt inside a hole that the plastic casing would otherwise obscure from view. This is where you're going to install your turn signals.
- 5). Snip the tip of the wires on your turn signals using wire cutters. The tips that you're going to be using for this installation are already inside the bike. There should be three wires hanging out of your motorcycle now that the light and shell casing have been removed -- green being the ground wire, solid color being the blink, and solid with stripe being the running light.
- 6). Mount the turn signals using your bolts facing backward from the headlight. This will allow them to be seen by vehicles behind you. Tighten the nut as hard as you can with pliers.
- 7). You will no longer be using the running light, so place shrink wrap on it and crimp it. Your turn signals will have two wires. Black being the ground and yellow being the positive. Solder the positive from the bike to the wire and the ground from the back to the wire, connecting them. Slide the included black tube over it, place shrink wrap on it and shrink it using your hair dryer.
- 8). Place the male tip of your turn signal wire into the female tip hanging out from the bike. The turn signals will now function in place of the running light.
- 9). Screw the plastic casing back in over the turn signals, plug the headlight back in and place it back inside the plastic casing. Screw the two screws back into the casing to hold the light in place. You now have perfectly functioning motorcycle turn signals.
