    Disinfectant

    • Clorox bleach is a useful disinfectant that will kill almost all bacteria, mold, mildew, pollen or dust particles. To use it, mix one tablespoon bleach with 1 gallon water. Soak the item in the bleach solution or spray the bleach solution on it. Rinse the item with clear water and let it dry completely. Be aware that bleach does remove color from textiles.

    Flowers

    • Clorox bleach can help extend the life of cut flowers. It does this by providing essential nutrients that the plant is no longer receiving. To use it, mix ¼ tsp. per quart of water. Pour the water into a vase and place flowers in it. Do not use more bleach than directed, as it will kill the flowers.

    Laundry

    • Bleach whitens products. You can use it to remove sweat, grass or dirt stains from white clothing. To use it, mix ¾ cup Clorox bleach with the water in your washing machine. Place the clothes in the machine and let them soak for at least 5 minutes. Do not use more than the directed amount as it can weaken the clothes.

    Disinfecting Water

    • The best way to disinfect water is to boil off all of the contaminates. If this is not possible, you can use Clorox bleach to disinfect water in an emergency. To do this, filter the water to remove visible contaminates. Add eight drops of Clorox bleach to one gallon of water. Let it stand for 30 minutes. The water will have a slight bleach odor. Remove the odor by pouring it from container to container until it airs out enough for the smell to be gone.
