How to Remove Burns on Wood
- 1). Clean the wood with a damp cloth, and wipe dry.
- 2). Moisten an extra-fine steel wool pad with mineral or lemon oil. Gently rub the burn mark with the wool pad, working with the grain of the wood. Do not scrub too hard, because you could scratch the wood. If you can still see the burn, moisten the steel wool with mineral or lemon oil again, and gently rub the burn mark once more. Repeat until the mark is gone.
- 3). Dampen a clean, soft cloth, and gently blot away any excess oil. Wipe the area dry with a clean, soft cloth.
- 4). Apply a wood polish to a clean, soft cloth, and gently polish the wood to restore its luster.
