How to: Quarter Round Molding
- 1). Measure the length of the need piece and add two inches.
- 2). Cut a 45-degree angle on the end that will meet the corner. The angle will always be cut away from the corner.
- 3). Cut along the profile of the 45-degree angle with a coping saw. Back-cut it slightly so the profile will rest tight against the already installed quarter round.
- 4). Clean up the profile with a half-round wood file.
- 5). Hold the quarter round in place, mark the opposite end and cut it to length with a miter saw.
- 1). Hold a piece of quarter round in place and make a pencil mark on the back of the molding. Walls are not always a 90-degree angle, so cut the molding a little long.
- 2). Hold a second piece of quarter round with a 45-degree cut on it against the piece previously cut. If the fit is good, cut the previous piece to length.
- 3). Measure the next piece and cut a 45-degree angle on the end. Adjust the angle if necessary.
