How to Remove Adhesive From a Subfloor
- 1). Pour 2 tbsp. of liquid dish detergent into a spray bottle. Fill the spray bottle with water, to create a soapy solution.
- 2). Shake the spray bottle, to mix up the solution. Spray the soapy solution directly onto the adhesive.
- 3). Use a floor scraper to dislodge the adhesive from the subfloor. You may need to continuously spray the adhesive with the soapy solution, while scraping.
- 4). Sweep the subfloor with a broom, once the adhesive is completely removed from the subfloor. The loose chunks of adhesive and debris should be completely removed from the subfloor.
- 5). Blot the wet subfloor with a towel, until completely dry. This will prevent the subfloor from becoming moldy and rotten.
