How to Install an AVIC F90BT on a 2003 Lincoln Aviator

    • 1). Lift the Aviator's hood and loosen the bolt securing the ground cable to the battery with a 10-mm socket wrench or socket and ratchet. The ground cable connects the frame of the Lincoln to the negative battery terminal. Remove the cable and set it aside. Move to the vehicle's interior.

    • 2). Pry the access panel at the top of the Aviator's dashboard away from the dash with a flat screwdriver or trim panel removal tool. Remove the two 7-mm bolts beneath the panel with a socket and ratchet.

    • 3). Lift the bezel surrounding the stereo away from the dashboard. Pry the vents below the stereo unit away from the dashboard with a trim panel removal tool and set them aside. Remove the two 7-mm screws below the radio with the socket and ratchet.

    • 4). Slide the factory stereo unit from the Lincoln's dashboard and disconnect the stereo wiring and antenna cable from the outlets on the rear panel of the unit. Slide the faceplate adapter into the Aviator's stereo mounting dock.

    • 5). Pull the stereo wiring and antenna cables from the back of the dock to the front of the vehicle's dashboard. Plug the two stereo wiring connectors into the wiring harness adapter leads. Plug the wiring harness adapter lead connectors into the outlets on the rear panel of the AVIC F90BT.

    • 6). Insert the antenna cable lead into the FM antenna input on the lower-left corner of the Pioneer stereo unit. Slide the new stereo deck into the faceplate adapter until it snaps into place.

    • 7). Replace the vents below the stereo and press them into place until they lock into the dashboard. Place the trim bezel around the new stereo faceplate adapter and press firmly to snap it back into place. Replace the two 7-mm screws at the top of the trim bezel with a socket and ratchet.

    • 8). Place the small access panel on top of the Aviator's dashboard and press firmly to snap it back into place. Return to the vehicle's battery.

    • 9). Place the ground cable clamp onto the negative battery terminal post and tighten the bolts at the end of the clamp with the ranch. Close the Aviator's hood.
