    Identification

    • Hardy geraniums have dark green foliage and a mounded form, from which emerge stalks of pink, crimson, purple or blue flowers. The foliage is somewhat rounded with deeply cut edges.

    Symptoms

    • Adverse symptoms of geranium poisoning include vomiting, anorexia, depression and dermatitis, according to the ASPCA.

    Recommendations

    • Although geraniums aren't listed as toxic by all organizations for pet safety, care should be used when planting them. They are probably best planted in areas inaccessible to pets.
