How to Install a Roof Mounted DVD Monitor in a Car
- 1). Fit the head of the flat-head screwdriver between the dome light and the ceiling, then gently pry up and twist the screwdriver to loosen the dome light. When the dome light moves freely within its area, grab the dome light and position it out from the hole in the ceiling so that it is hanging from its wires.
- 2). Pull the wires out from the hole in the ceiling and unplug the wires from the dome light. Position the wires through the cutout areas of the mounting bracket. Place the mounting bracket firmly against the roof so that it makes flat, even contact.
- 3). Use a carpenter's knife to cut the headliner around the mounting bracket. After you have made your cuts, give the mounting bracket some slack and remove the cut piece of headliner by cutting from the center area of the piece of headliner to the outside area.
- 4). Place the mounting bracket back firmly up against the ceiling. Drill four holes through the mounting bracket into the ceiling using a drill with a machine screw tap drill bit. Make sure the drilling depth does not exceed the depth of the ceiling. A machine tap drill bit creates threads in the holes so screws can grasp the threads and make a tight hold. Place the screws in the holes and tighten them with a Phillips-head screwdriver.
- 5). Hold the DVD monitor up to the wires and connect the wire harness to the back of the DVD monitor. Position the DVD monitor onto the connections of the mounting bracket and slide it back until you feel it lock into place.
