Fleas & Nematodes

    Function

    • The nematode species Steinernema carpocapsae eats flea larvae. It enters any orifices in the larvae and eats them from the inside out.

    Considerations

    • Nematodes can live only in soil, which is where many flea larvae also live. But that also means that nematodes are useful for controlling only fleas living and breeding outdoors, not indoors.

    Effects

    • Nematodes will not kill 100 percent of all fleas living in a yard, especially if the soil is dry and hard. The homeowner still needs to clean the home and put flea-killing products on pets.
