How to Make a Drain Opener
- 1). Pour about 1 quart hot water down the drain to loosen buildup.
- 2). Pour 1 cup baking soda into your drain to clean and deodorize.
- 3). Pour 1 cup vinegar into the drain, which disinfects but more importantly causes a foaming reaction with the baking soda that will open the drain. Let the foam work through the drain for about 20 minutes.
- 4). Pour about 2 quarts hot water down the drain.
- 5). Plunge the drain if any blockage remains. Plunge up and down about 10 times and flush with another 2 quarts of hot water. Repeat as needed until the drain is open and emptying properly.
