How to Remove Oil & Rust From Concrete
- 1). Cover the stain with kitty litter. Be sure to cover the entire stain leaving none of it exposed.
- 2). Cover the kitty litter with a piece of plastic big enough to cover all of the litter. An unopened garbage bag can work well for this task.
- 3). Weigh down the plastic by setting something heavy on the corners and on top of it.
- 4). Allow this to sit for 24 to 48 hours.
- 5). Remove the plastic and sweep away the kitty litter. Dispose of the kitty litter and plastic in a loosely sealed bag away from the house as it is now flammable.
- 6). Saturate the area with a heavy duty oven cleaner. Be sure to saturate the entire stain thoroughly.
- 7). Cover the area with plastic again, and be sure to weigh it down again.
- 8). Allow the area to soak for 24 hours.
- 9). Scrub the area with a clean cloth to remove the residual stain.
- 1). Mix one part white vinegar and three parts water in a bucket.
- 2). Saturate the area with the solution.
- 3). Use a push broom to scrub the area, adding more of the solution as needed.
- 4). Allow the area to soak for an hour if the stain is stubborn and won't come up with the initial scrubbing.
- 5). Scrub the area again if it was soaking to remove the residual stain.
- 6). Rinse the area with clean water.
