How to Adjust a Metal Bi-Fold Door

    Bi-Fold Door Sticks

    • 1). Insert the tip of a Flathead screwdriver into the setscrew located in the top pivot bracket that is connected to each bifold door and located in the upper track.

    • 2). Turn the screw counterclockwise and loosen the screw.

    • 3). Slide the top pivot bracket in the track until it is parallel to the jamb. Then tighten the set screw back into the bracket.

    • 4). Adjust the bottom pivot brackets on each door by tightening loose screws or inserting new screws into the bracket with a Phillips head screwdriver

    Tighten Loose Knob

    • 1). Turn the knob counterclockwise to unscrew it.

    • 2). Add a drop of epoxy on the butt of the knob.

    • 3). Rescrew the knob back in place. Tighten the knob until it is flush with the door. Allow the glue to set for 24 hours before pulling on the knob.

    Raise or Lower the Doors

    • 1). Open the door and loosen the setscrew in the top pivot bracket on the metal bi-fold door.

    • 2). Close the bi-fold door. Reach underneath the door and turn the adjustment screw on the bottom of the door. The head of the adjustment screw is situated in the grooves of the bottom pivot bracket. Turn the adjustment screw with your finger either clockwise to lower the door or counterclockwise to raise the door.

    • 3). Move the adjustment screw forward or back into another groove in the bottom pivot bracket to move the bi-fold door toward or away from you.

    • 4). Retighten the set screw in the top pivot bracket when the door is raised or lowered to your satisfaction.
