How to Get Pet Odors Out of a Floor
- 1). Moisten the floor if your pet's urine has dried. If it is still wet, do not moisten.
- 2). Layer paper towels and newspapers over the site. If it is especially wet, use multiple layers of each. If it is relatively dry, just two of each will suffice.
- 3). Stand on the towels and newspaper too apply pressure. Be aware, though, that if you didn't add enough layers, some of the urine might leak up and make contact with your feet. Wait one minute.
- 4). Remove the sheets. If the area is still wet, repeat steps 2 and 3 until it is only slightly damp.
- 5). Mix water with carpet shampoo and thoroughly rinse the area. If the affected floor is not carpet, then replace the shampoo with an appropriate alternative, such as mop soap for hardwood or linoleum floors.
- 6). Dry the affected area by using either a wet vac or blotting with more paper towels. For hardwood and linoleum floors, a mop will also suffice.
