How to Remove Discoloration on a Glass Oven Door
- 1). Use the self-cleaning setting on your oven, if applicable, or clean the inside with a commercial oven cleaner, per label instructions. Alternatively, make your own oven cleaner with 1 part white vinegar and 4 parts water. Let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes before wiping the inside and door clean with a rag or sponge. Gently clean the heating element as well. Repeat, if necessary. Use a baking soda paste made with water or a citrus-based cleaner to scrub hard-to-clean areas clean.
- 2). Scrub the oven door with a moist cleaning eraser to remove stubborn stains. Such erasers are available where cleaning products are sold. If necessary, carefully scrape away hard-to-remove stains with a razor blade. Do not scratch the glass in the process.
- 3). Rinse the inside of the oven and door with a damp rag. Rinse the rag frequently in clean water as necessary.
- 4). Coat the inside of the door window with a thin layer of car wax, which protects the door from future discoloration.
