Champagne glasses have more uses than just holding a glass of the bubbly. Their simple elegance and unique shape make them perfect for dramatic displays of foods, flowers or place settings. Whether the champagne glasses are plain glass, fine crystal, etched or cut, they can be used to give a dining table or buffet visual pizazz. - Use either bowl shaped coupe champagne glasses or wide-mouthed flute champagne glasses to serve elegant desserts. Accompany the desserts with long handled iced-tea spoons.
Make sweet gelatin in a flat pan. Cut the gelatin into small cubes after it hardens. Put the cubes in the champagne glasses. Top with whipped cream and colored sprinkles.
Make a few different colors of gelatin for a rainbow effect. Add small pieces of colorful fruit on top of the whipped cream, such as slices of apples with the skin, kiwi fruit, blueberries or strawberries, to make the rainbow dessert more colorful.
Scoop layers of pudding or mousse into champagne glasses. Top it with whipped cream and shaved chocolate, chocolate chips or chocolate sprinkles.
Create a Neapolitan look using strawberry, vanilla and chocolate puddings. Top it with Neapolitan wafer cookies. Put strawberry pieces in the glass before you add the pudding, or sprinkle a layer of chocolate chips at the bottom for a surprise treat at the end of the dessert. - Instead of setting a beautiful cake or pie flat on the table, turn over coupe champagne glasses arranged in a circle to serve as an elegant base for a cake plate or pie. Set the arrangement on a dining table or buffet to make it stand above the other foods being served.
Put a champagne glass at each table setting in the middle of the dinner plate or at the head of each place setting, and fill it with chocolates, jelly beans or gum drops for color.
For a seasonal theme, fill each champagne glass with foil wrapped chocolate eggs for Easter, foil wrapped Christmas shapes, or candy corn. Add ribbons and real or silk seasonal flowers around the stem base. Make place cards to stick in the top or place in front of the filled champagne glasses. - Create a floral centerpiece by stacking coupe champagne glasses in a pyramid. Fill each one with water, then add cut flowers to every glass. Arrange the flowers and greenery so they cascade over the sides of each glass.
For added color put food coloring in the water to match the flowers and greenery. Make small floral arrangements in either coupe or fluted champagne glasses with real, silk or dried flowers. Put one at each place setting in the middle of the dinner plate. If the china has a floral pattern, try to match the colors and flowers of the china.
