How to Remove Rust Spots From Flatware
- 1). Pour 1/4 cup lemon juice in a small bowl. Add 1/2 cup baking soda and mix until a thick paste forms. You can use cream of tartar as a substitute for the baking soda.
- 2). Dip a damp sponge in the paste and rub the rust spots for several seconds until they are no longer visible. Continue with the remaining steps if the rust spots are still present on the utensils.
- 3). Let the flatware soak in pure white vinegar for 20 minutes. Wipe the rust off the item with a clean cloth. Allow the flatware to soak for an extended period of time if the rust spots remain.
- 4). Wash the flatware with warm, soapy water as you normally would. Rinse with cool water and towel dry.
