What Is the Best Way to Clean Brazilian Cherry Hardwood Floors?
- Cleaning the Brazilian hardwood floors daily or every few days with a broom or dust mop is typically enough to keep the floors clean. You also can use a vacuum cleaner if you like, but avoid vacuums that have a beater bar as this will often indent the wood when the bar strikes down.
- When more than sweeping is required, mix a solution of 1 part glass cleaner to 9 parts water in a bucket, basin or laundry tub. Dip a cleaning rag about the size of a dish towel into the mixture and wring out well. Wrap the towel around a broom and rub gently over the cherry hardwood floors. Wipe with the grain of the wood and dry the floor with a clean rag when finished.
- Never use vinegar on the flooring as it can eat away at the finish of the flooring. Never wax the floor either, as it is unnecessary and will dull the overall look of your exotic flooring. Basic cleaning will safely remove residue and keep the floor looking like new.
- Always use moving pads when moving furniture across the flooring, and put felt pads on the bottom of all tables, chairs and similar pieces of furniture to prevent scratching and indentation. Also use area rugs in high-traffic areas and place floor mats at entryways to the home.
