Heroes is one of the shows that belonged to the "Golden Era of American Television.
" Rightfully so, their show is one with a unique twist on a plot that has been told and re-told one too many times.
When they did their pilot last four seasons ago, it signaled not just the new found ability of writers and creators to come up with exciting ways to produce great drama but also of the market's preparedness to embrace storylines that are not necessarily common.
It was really going well for Heroes, the ratings, the fad, the trend they seemed to have started all signaled that their shows is bound to be one of those that will be remembered decades and decades after it folds.
Just as a recap, the show is about seemingly unconnected ordinary joes that had one thing in common - a genetic mutation that gave them extra ordinary abilities.
It sounds like X-men.
The difference is that they didn't have a professor X that knew all the answers to their questions and is ready to guide them.
They all were imperfect living in an imperfect world in imperfect circumstances.
However, trouble started by the end of first season.
They whole season was setting up for the unthinkable blowing up of New York City.
And then they didn't.
When a show is too coward to pursue an original idea that made the show exciting anyway, it is surely as sign that they are not willing to take risks.
Risks are what make a show great.
Then the writers' strike happen.
The show found itself without the original writer who made came up with the characterizations and all.
The raw idea fell out.
The character found itself moving around a situation which they didn't create nor influenced.
The heroes suddenly became victims.
They started gaining their powers, then losing them, then changing them, as if the writers couldn't quite decide what to do with them.
Worse, there was no plot.
You don't know what you are waiting for and found no sense in watching them.
Some reports says that the network is thinking of a shortened final season to wrap up the serialized show but nothing is final yet.
