We have all heard about satellite TV, and you can tell how popular it is by driving down the road and seeing the number of dishes people have on their houses. Satellite television is nothing new, however with the new technologies of today you can now get satellite TV feeds directly to your computer.

The internet is growing everyday and even the older generations are starting to learn computer skills. In fact its is getting harder and harder to get by in this day and age unless you know the basic over computers and technology. With this in mind it was only a matter of time before someone figured out how to get a good television signal broadcast to your computer. Some people may wonder why you would want to watch TV on your computer? Well lets think about that for a bit.

The satellite dishes you have on your roof right now you either had to install yourself or you hired a crew of technicians to come to your house and set it up for you. This would cost you extra money and you would need to set a time for the crew to be at your house. Watching television on your computer is much easier because you dont need a dish, all you need to do is find software to download. This software receives the satellite signal just like the dish on your house does.

Then there are the number of channels you can watch. With a regular satellite dish you are limited to the channels you can receive based on your location and the amount of sky you can cover with your dish. Watching TV on your computer is a little different. Since you are watching your shows through the internet, as long as you have a connection you can get any channel you want. In fact some TV to pc software companies claim they can get over 35,000 channels from across the world.

There are some downsides to watching shows online. The obvious one being you must have an internet connection. Your hunting cabin way out in the middle of the bush can have a satellite dish but getting internet there would be hard and expensive. Another drawback is that if you have an older computer or a slow internet connection then the feed you are watching can be of lesser quality or choppy. Also, you have to watch on your computer. Most new televisions you buy today have hook ups that will allow you to view your computer on you big widescreen TV but then you are using both your television and computer just to watch one show.

They say that TV to PC technology is the future of television, though Im not quite ready to trade in my flat screen it is true that this internet thing is not going away any time soon.
