    Vinegar

    • Perhaps the most versatile natural cleaning product in your kitchen is the bottle of white vinegar. Used full-strength or diluted, vinegar breaks down soap scum and grease, dissolves hard water deposits and is a natural deodorizer. Mix white vinegar with an equal amount of plain water and fill a plastic spray bottle. Spray counter tops, cabinets, stove top and bathroom surfaces and wipe off. Vinegar is gentle enough to use on most surfaces. Add ½ cup of vinegar to your laundry rinse cycle to naturally soften the fabrics without irritating baby's sensitive skin.

    Baking Soda

    • Second on the list of natural cleaning products is baking soda, inexpensive and full of deodorizing power. Fill an empty baby powder container with baking soda and sprinkle it on wet surfaces before using a sponge to scrub away bathtub grime and soap scum. For tough stains, combine baking soda with a few drops of water to make a paste and allow it to sit on the stain for a few minutes before sponging off. Combine baking soda with fresh lemon juice to whiten sink stains and leave an open box of soda open in the fridge to absorb odors.

    Lemon

    • Keep plenty of lemon juice on hand for tough cleaning jobs and for brightening your white fabrics without bleach. Strain the pulp from fresh lemon juice, combine ¼ cup of juice with ½ cup sweet almond oil, and fill a small spray bottle. Shake and spray your polished wood furniture to remove old wax buildup and leave a fresh clean shine. Add ½ cup of lemon juice to your laundry's wash cycle to boost your detergent and remove stains from white fabrics. Pre-treat stains on whites by making a paste of lemon juice and baking soda and rubbing into the spot before laundering.

    Rubbing Alcohol

    • Cleaning your windows, mirrors and glass-front appliances is easy when you combine equal amounts of rubbing alcohol and water and add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar for every 2 cups of solution. The addition of the rubbing alcohol helps the solution dry quickly as you wipe, leaving your glass surface streak-free. Use newspapers for the final wiping.

    Additional

    • Make your own baby wipes by individually folding strong paper towels (Viva is a good choice) and packing them into an airtight plastic box or a strong zip-type plastic bag. Combine 1 cup of water with 1/4 cup of white vinegar and add 1/4 cup almond oil. Shake the solution and pour over the folded paper towels before sealing. When it's changing time, use a moist towelette to gently clean baby's diaper area. These also make great travel hand wipes.
