How do I Clean Products for Motorcycles?
- 1). Find out what materials make up your motorcycle. Make sure the pre-wax, polish and wax you buy is suitable for plastic, metal, chrome, steel or whatever else makes up your motorcycle.
- 2). Remove the outer layer of grease, dirt and grime from the entire bike. Use a gentle but strong cleaner, such as dish soap. Scrub with a plastic nylon bristle brush. However, too much of this type of wash can strip away paint. Do this step only when the bike is extremely dirty.
- 3). Dry the bike thoroughly with a towel that will not shed. If you are working outside, remove the bike from direct sunlight so you do not disturb the pre-wax product.
- 4). Use a rag to rub in pre-wax over the outer, painted surface of the bike. Apply one coat, let it dry and rub off with a buffing cloth. Complete this process twice.
- 5). Apply polish with another rag. Rub in the polish in a circular motion, using two or three fingers. Wait 10 minutes, then remove it with a new buffing cloth. Complete this process twice.
- 6). Apply two coats of wax in the same fashion. Wait for each coat to dry for at least 10 minutes, buff it out and repeat. Always use new cloths.
- 7). Use a new rag and furniture polish to clean the seat and any other leather or vinyl parts.
- 8). Use a hand brush made of plastic nylon to remove dirt buildup on the rims and tires. Polish rims the same way you did the body of the bike.
