    • 1). Take everything out of your cabinets and put them in another room. Combine 1/2-cup TSP cleaner in a bucket with 2 gallons of warm water. Put on a pair of rubber gloves and dip a sponge into the solution, then wring it out.

    • 2). Scrub the interiors of the cabinets, the exteriors and the cabinet doors, removing caked-on grease. Allow them to dry. Remove the cabinet doors from their hinges, and unscrew all attached hardware. Sand the cabinets, cabinet doors and the interiors of the cabinets with 180-grit sandpaper. Dust the doors and interiors with a feather duster when finished.

    • 3). Tape off any areas that you don't plan to repaint using painter's tape. Apply a water-based primer to the fronts and backs of the cabinets, doors and the interior of the cabinets. Allow it to dry.

    • 4). Apply a single coat of latex-based paint onto the interior of the cabinets, the fronts and backs of the cabinet doors and the cabinet exteriors. Make smooth, even strokes with your paintbrush. Allow this coat to dry for 24 hours before applying a second and final coat. Remove the painter's tape before the paint dries thoroughly.
