How to Get Dings Out of Drywall
- 1). Apply the drywall patching compound to the dings in the wall with the flat edge of a putty knife. The patching compound is premixed and needs no preparation; however, you must apply the compound relatively quickly because it starts to dry with air contact. Let the material harden overnight.
- 2). Smooth the repair with fine-grit sandpaper, then wipe with a damp paper towel to remove sanding dust.
- 3). Spread a drop cloth on the floor below the repair area.
- 4). Refinish the wall surface with a paint color of your choosing. Use a paint roller for best results. You'll need to repaint the entire wall for a smooth finish that blends with the drywall repair.
