How to Remove Ash
- 1). Let the ash thoroughly cool before treating it. Hot ashes can burn you.
- 2). Scatter baking soda liberally over any damp ashes. Keep the baking soda on the damp ashes for an hour to absorb moisture.
- 3). Vacuum the stained carpet thoroughly. Extract all baking soda and ash residue from the carpet.
- 4). Pour a dime-sized portion of dry-cleaning solvent onto a white cloth. Blot the remaining stain with the cloth until all the fluid has permeated the carpet.
- 5). Examine the carpet for remaining ash. If the grayish stain persists, continue blotting it with the dry-cleaning solvent. Blot the carpet until the ash stain vanishes.
- 6). Blot the carpet with a fresh, white cloth to absorb the dry-cleaning solvent. Absorb as much fluid as possible.
