How to Create a Vista Bootable Flash Drive
- 1). Insert the flash drive into a USB port.
- 2). Click the Windows Start button at the left bottom of the computer screen.
- 3). Type "cmd" in the small bottom window. (Do not include the quotation marks for any commands you will type.) Press "Enter."
- 4). Type "diskpart" in the command screen that has appeared onscreen. Press "Enter."
- 5). Type "list volume." Press "Enter." Your drives and partitions will appear on screen. Locate the number assigned to your flash drive. It most likely will be the option labeled "removable." Make note of this number.
- 6). Type "select disk X" in the command screen. (Replace X with the number of your flash drive.) Press "Enter."
- 7). Type "clean." Press "Enter."
- 8). Type "create partition primary." Press "Enter."
- 9). Type "select partition X," (replacing X with the number of the flash drive.) Press "Enter."

Type "active." Press "Enter." - 11
Type "format fs=fat32." Press "Enter." - 12
Type "assign." Press "Enter." - 13
Type "xcopy d:\*.* /s/e/f e:\." Press "Enter." Allow the files to transfer to your flash drive. - 14
Type "exit." Press "Enter."
