Difference Between PC100 and PC133
- PC100 SDRAM was introduced in the latter part of 1998. PC133 appeared in June, 1999, not long after the earlier generation, the PC100.
- PC133 RAM and PC100 RAM chips can be installed together on the same computer, but the PC133 RAM will be reduced to the speed of the PC100 RAM. A computer automatically defaults to the lowest speed of RAM that is installed. PC133 RAM is faster than, and can outperform, the PC100.
- PC100 and PC133 RAM are now obsolete in the computer industry, due to much faster RAM being introduced, such as DDR2 and DDR3 SDRAM.
