Everybody loves to eat, so selling food is always a great way to make money. Capitalize on this fact with a concession stand. Usually located at fairs, theme parks, movie theaters, arenas, stadiums and other entertainment venues, a concession stand provides a convenient place for the hungry masses to grab a bite to eat. When it comes to what foods you could sell, the possibilities are endless. - Popcorn is traditional concession stand fare.popcorn 2 image by Eric E from Fotolia.com
One idea is to keep with customary fare. Concession stands have traditionally sold grab-and-go items which are easily transported to the venue and carried back to one's seat. Such items include popcorn, hot dogs, candy, soft pretzels, nachos, candy, and snack-sized bags and packets of chips, nuts, pretzels, cheese crackers, and other such items. - Sell pizza by the slice.pizza image by Claudio Calcagno from Fotolia.com
At some venues, more substantial offerings may be in order. Ever-popular pizza is always a good option, sold individually sized or by the slice. Or consider hamburgers, fried fish, hot dogs, sandwiches and barbecued chicken or ribs, with side items such as French fries, onion rings, potato salad, baked beans and cole slaw. - Fresh-squeezed fruit juice well sells during hot summers.fruit juice image by timur1970 from Fotolia.com
Sodas are the traditional concession beverage, but during cold autumns and winters, consider other options such as coffee, cider, and hot chocolate. And during blazing hot summer months, fruity slushees and creamy milkshakes can be big sellers. You could also have a beverage-only concession stand, offering everything from sodas to chocolate milk to freshly squeezed fruit juices. - Appeal to the sweet tooth with ice cream bars.ice cream lolly image by Renata Osinska from Fotolia.com
Go farther than candy bars and sell homemade candy: fudge squares, truffles, peanut brittle and marzipan. Think funnel cakes, candied apples, ice cream bars and the like. Or sell baked goods such as cupcakes, pies, and slices of cake and cheesecake. If you're selling your concessions on or near a holiday, offer sugar cookies decorated accordingly: with little Santa Clauses for Christmas, flags for Fourth of July, turkeys for Thanksgiving, ghosts for Halloween and hearts for Valentine's Day.
