How to Change a Windows Key in SP2
- 1). Go to "Start" > "Run." Enter the command "regedit." Click "OK" to open the Registry Editor.
- 2). Click "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" > "Software" > "Microsoft" > "WindowsNT" > "CurrentVersion" > "WPAEvents."
- 3). Right-click "ODBETimer," which is on the right side of the menu. Choose "Modify" on the menu.
- 4). Modify one or more of the characters and click "OK." Only use numbers 0 through 9 and letters A to F.
- 5). Go to "Start" > "Run." Type "%systemroot%\system32\oobe\msoobe /a" into the "Run" box and press "Enter." The Windows Product Activation feature will load.
- 6). Click "Yes, I want to telephone a customer service representative..." and click "Next."
- 7). Click "Change Product Key" and type in a 25-character key. Only use numbers 0 through 9 and letters A to F. Press "Update" and "Remind Me Later."
- 8). Close any open windows and reboot your PC.
