    • 1). Insert a USB drive into your computer and go through your hard drive, backing up all of your important folders, files, pictures, audio, and other data. This is necessary as your hard drive will be wiped clean during the upgrade procedure.

    • 2). Insert the Windows XP 64 bit disk into the drive and reboot the computer.

    • 3). Press any key as the computer is rebooting to boot directly from the CD.

    • 4). Press the "Enter" key to begin the installation.

    • 5). Press "F8" to accept the licensing agreement.

    • 6). Select the drive upon which you want to install Windows XP 64 bit.

    • 7). Choose the "NTFS" file system option to format the drive, preparing it for the installation procedure. The auto-installer begins to copy the Windows XP 64-bit files to your drive following the cessation of the formatting procedure.

    • 8). Enter the remaining required data (including your computer's name, the product ID, and your network information) when prompted.

    • 9). Reboot the machine to complete the installation.
