How to Smoke Foods on a Weber Gas Grill

    • 1). Gather the wood chunks you plan to smoke the food with beforehand and soak them in water for at least one hour before you begin smoking your food with the Weber gas grill. Aromatic twigs and smaller wood chips require only 30 minutes of soaking prior to smoking the food. You will find different types of wood chips and chunks at local home and garden stores as well as hardware stores.     • 2). Keep the water pan your grill came with filled with water. While smoking your foods, you may want to replenish the water supply multiple times throughout the process, depending on your cooking preferences. Adding water to the water pan will help keep moisture and juice in the food(s) you are smoking on the Weber grill. Adding marinades, flavors, beers and wine will also add to the smoke flavor of the foods you are cooking, if you choose to add these into your water pan before smoking the food.

    • 3). Place all of the food you plan on smoking on the grill in the center of the grill on the cooking grate, above the water pan you have recently filled with water (or another marinade).

    • 4). Smoke and cook the food(s) for the appropriate cooking time. Each type of meat or other type of food will vary in cooking time. Add fifteen minutes each time you open and check on the grill, as much heat is released from the smoker each time you check on the food. Use a meat thermometer to ensure your food is thoroughly cooked to your preferences before removing it from the Weber grill.
