Bouncy castles are normally a fun, entertaining and above all safe form of exercise and enjoyment, it is however only by following rules and regulations that it is possible to maintain this safe level of operation.
Fundamentally there are three golden rules of operating bouncy castles.
1.
To ensure equipment is properly manufactured and maintained to a suitable standard 2.
To ensure that the bouncy castle is operated correctly (i.
e.
correct pressure and anchoring) 3.
To ensure users are supervised at all times These three golden rules however can be broken down to a selection of do's and don'ts that if followed should lead to safe bouncy castle use.
Do • Use the equipment in the correct way, as it was intended to be used.
For instance do not allow people on the inflatable that exceed the stated weight or height restrictions.
• Place the blower at least four feet from the inflatable and ensure that it is placed far enough away so that it is not an obstruction.
Injury can occur if the blower is touched.
• Ensure that when buying or renting an inflatable that it has a valid test certificate that is current and up to date.
• Ensure that safety mates are placed around the entrance to the inflatable.
This can help to reduce those bumps and scratches.
• Ensure that children and adults are supervised when using the inflatable; it is amazing to see how many accidents occur purely down to a lack of effective supervision.
• Ensure that the inflatable is suitably anchored, particularly in windy conditions.
• Hire or buy your inflatable from a reputable dealer that can provide you with advice and assistance on the safe usage of the inflatable.
• Make sure that the inflatable is deflated immediately after the session has ended to stop any usage that is not supervised.
Don't • Let the bouncers climb the walls of the inflatable, these are designed to keep users safe and climbing them will only lead to accidents.
• Allow users to bounce on the inflatable whilst it is being deflated, the unpredictable bounce can lead to accidents.
• Throw anything on the inflatable, or at any users.
• Use the inflatable in especially high winds.
• Allow users onto the inflatable with shoes on or with any sharp objects, glasses or bottles.
Hopefully by following these rules it should be possible to enjoy your bouncy castle experience in a safe and ordered manner.
