Inkjet Copiers

• Inkjet copiers contain either a single nozzle or an array of nozzles attached to ink cartridges containing cyan, magenta, yellow and black ink,. As the paper passes through the copier the nozzles release drops of ink using different ink mixtures to produce different colors.
  
  

Photocopiers

• Photocopiers use light to alter the charge of photoconductive material inside a drum. This gives the material a positive charge in the areas that should appear as black. The copier then spreads negatively charged toner onto the drum. The toner sticks to the areas with a positive charge, creating a copy of the image that can be placed on paper.
  
  

Considerations

• Copies made with inkjet copiers tend to last longer than those made with photocopiers. This is because the paper absorbs the ink. In contrast, photocopies rely on toner particles bonded to the paper. These particles flake off with abrasion more easily than does ink.
