How to Make "Sims 3" Faster for a Slow Computer
- 1). Run "The Sims 3" system requirements diagnostics test on your computer (see Resources) to determine if your computer is capable of high-quality graphics.
- 2). Click the "Windows" icon on your desktop, and click "All Programs," "EA Games" and "The Sims 3" to launch the game.
- 3). Click on a sim family in the game to start the game, and click the "Settings" icon in the bottom-left corner of the screen. The Settings icon has three dots, which takes you to the game's configuration menu.
- 4). Click "Options" in the Settings menu, and click the Graphics tab (the first tab) at the top of the Options menu.
- 5). Click the Screen Size drop-down menu, and lower the resolution to improve graphics performance. Uncheck the boxes next to "Enable reflections" and "Enable Animation Smoothing."
- 6). Uncheck the checkbox next to "Enable Advanced Rendering." Slide the tab on the Edge Smoothing bar all the way to the left to disable it. Slide the tab on the Texture Detail tab to the left to reduce the game's details.
- 7). Slide the tab on the Lighting and Shadows tab to the left to reduce the extraneous details, as these can bog down the game's performance. Click the checkmark icon in the bottom-right corner of the window to save the changes and exit.
