How to Increase a Computer's Memory Beyond the Maximum
- 1). Click "Start," "Control Panel" and "System." This will get you to the area of the computer where you can access your virtual memory.
- 2). Click "Advanced System Settings." Navigate to the "Advanced" tab, then under "Performance" click "Settings." Click "Advanced" tab then click "Change" under "Virtual Memory."
- 3). Clear the "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives" box. Click the drive that you want to use for your virtual memory and click the bubble next to "Custom Size" to enter the amount of virtual memory you need to have available for your system. Click "OK" to save the settings.
