How to Record From VHS to an HP PC
- 1). Connect the composite cables to the back of the VCR's AV OUT or Playback jacks. The yellow cable plug is for the video connection, the white plug for left audio and the red plug for right audio.
- 2). Connect the plugs on the other end to the video card jacks on the back of the HP's central processing unit. Use the same color codes to match the plugs to the jacks.
- 3). Open the video recording software on the HP by double-clicking the name of the program. To locate the software, click the "Start" button in the lower left-hand corner of the screen and click "All Programs" to display a list of software on the PC.
- 4). Insert a VHS cassette in the VCR, rewind it if necessary, then press "Play" if the tape does not begin automatic playback.
- 5). Click the "Record" button on the video software. The "Record" button typically has a red circle in the center. Click "Stop" when finished recording.
- 6). Click the "File" tab on the recording software, choose "Save" and type a name for the recording in the blank field provided. Click "Save" to store the digital recording on the computer's hard drive.
