Information for Installing Vista Over the Linspire OS
- 1). Place the installation DVD into the disc drive and power on your computer. Press any key on the keyboard to load the Windows Vista DVD when instructed to do so.
- 2). Read and accept the license agreement. Windows Vista Setup will attempt to detect any previous Windows installations. Since you have Linspire installed the computer, it will not detect any. It will display the available drives and partitions and ask where you'd like to install Windows Vista.
- 3). Select the Linux partition and delete it, following the on-screen instructions. If there is more than one partition (Linux often creates a few partitions), delete all of them. Select the empty drive space and format it with the NTFS file system, following the on-screen instructions.
- 4). Select the reformatted drive as the installation destination. Follow the remaining on-screen instructions to complete the Windows Vista installation. When all is said and done, your Linspire installation will be completely erased, your drive is reformatted for Windows and Windows Vista will launch after the system reboots.
