A broken heart is extremely painful, especially in the beginning.
It is generally no consolation to know that very few, if any, in the human race have managed to side-step this experience.

Each day is difficult to start, and just putting one foot in front of the other can take all your energy.
To pull yourself out of despair and loneliness, I have devised a great initial action plan that should gradually bring you back to the human race.
DO WHAT DOESN'T COME NATURALLY What I mean by this is: completely cut off all communication with your ex and try to forget about getting your ex back.
Trust me on this.
Concentrate on improving yourself.
This is the number one strategy that will put you on the fast track to feeling better so that you can handle your situation.
Remember that project you never finished or that class you always wanted to take? Do it now.
Volunteer to help others who are going through rough times.
They are very easy to find right now.
I was always told, "Help someone else with their miracle while you are waiting for yours.
" It is amazing what helping others can do for you.
RECONNECT WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY A relationship can be quite consuming with your time and energy, so now would be a great time to reconnect with long-neglected family members and friends.
Once again, maybe you can help them out while you are helping yourself refocus.
Guess what? It really is OK to have fun again.
Feeling depressed can get to be a habit, so break it! Enjoy life again.

TIMING IS KEY The timing on the next step will be different for everyone.
For some, they can sort things out in a fairly short period of time.
For others, it may take much longer.
Your head has to be clear for you to think clearly and not do something foolish--like crawling back to your ex and begging.
That, of course, is a "no no.
" There needs to be enough time for you to more objectively look at your situation.
Your ex needs the time also to look at your relationship more objectively without the extreme emotion involved when the break up is fresh.
They might even be missing you.
The above strategy works wonders in making you much more appealing and attractive to them.
They just might even admire the amazing things you have accomplished with your extra time while apart.
(Of course, that is not the main goal in helping others.
You have to be genuine.
) At this point, if you feel that you would still like to try to work things out, a dignified attempt at communication would be next in order.
If your ex is open, then proceed to try to talk things out.
If they are not, do not force it at all.
It will only make matters worse.
If it is meant to be, it will work out.
