How to Use a Webcam in Laptops
- 1). Insert the installation CD supplied with the webcam in your laptop's disc drive. If you don't have this CD, browse to your laptop manufacturer's site if you have a built-in webcam, or visit the webcam manufacturer's site if you have an external webcam. Navigate to the Support or Downloads page to obtain the software for your webcam.
- 2). Launch the installer for your webcam software and follow the on-screen prompts to install the software on your computer. Choose an installation directory for the software.
- 3). Connect an external webcam to your laptop's USB port when the installation wizard instructs you to do so, if you don't already have a built-in webcam or you want to use an external unit with more features.
- 4). Launch the webcam software or a third-party application, such as the Skype video chat app. Your webcam should turn on and provide input to the software automatically.
