Fan Problems

• Each motherboard, computer case and central processing unit (CPU) comes with a fan to keep the hardware cool. If your Gigabyte motherboard fan breaks, your hardware heats up. Heated CPUs or other hardware can harm your computer, and Windows Explorer may freeze. Heated components also reboot the computer. Some software manufacturers offer applications to monitor fans and hardware temperatures.
  
  

Power Problems

• The power supply inserted in the computer case brings electricity to the computer's motherboard, hard drives and DVD drives. If the power plug is damaged or the motherboard's circuits are damaged, the motherboard will need to be replaced. Signs of power problems are a computer that won't turn on, rebooting sporadically and the Windows "blue screen of death."
  
  

Memory Modules

• The memory modules connect directly to the motherboard in the designated memory slots. If memory is not inserted properly or fastened tightly to the motherboard, Windows Explorer errors occur. To troubleshoot this issue, remove the memory and replace it with new memory modules. If you still receive errors, the motherboard may need replacement due to bad memory connections.
  
  

Considerations

• Some issues on the motherboard are caused by poor installation. Always have an anti-static wrist band when touching circuits or the motherboard. Ensure that power connections are properly inserted into the right power plugs and that the motherboard is securely fastened to the computer case. If the motherboard can move around, the circuits may sustain damage.
