2005 Silverado Body Specifications
- The Silverado name became a part of the Chevy truck lineup in the 1980s, when it was used to identify the high-trim C/K-series trucks. In 1999, Silverado became the official name for all full-size Chevy trucks. In 2005, the Silverado had three different sizes: 1500, 2500HD and 3500HD. Among these sizes were different bed and cab configurations that affected the body size of the truck. The Silverado was available in regular, extended or crew cab. The beds were either short- or long-bed.
- The Silverado 1500 -- the smallest full-size pickup in the 2005 Chevy lineup -- was 222.1 inches long with a regular cab and long bed; 227.7 inches with an extended cab and short bed; 237.3 with a crew cab and short bed; 246.6 inches with an extended cab and long bed; and 256.2 with a crew cab and a long bed. It was 79.7 inches wide in all available cab and bed designs. The 2005 Silverado 1500 was 76.2 inches high in all regular and extended cab models and 77 inches high in all crew cab models. The bed was 69.2 inches long in all crew cabs, except the HD model, which was 78.7 inches; 78.7 inches long in all regular and and extended cabs with short beds; 97.6 in all long bed models. The bed width -- between the wheel wells -- was 50 inches and the depth was 19.5 inches in all models of the 1500. The total width of the bed was 64.8 inches in all models except the LS and LT crew cabs, which were 60.2 inches wide.
- The 2500HD was Chevrolet's 3/4 ton pickup, and the second-largest of the lineup. It was 222.1 inches long with a regular cab and long bed; 227.7 inches with an extended cab and short bed; 237.3 inches with a crew cab and short bed; 246.6 inches with an extended cab and long bed; and 256.2 inches with a crew cab and long bed. It was 76.2 inches high in all regular and extended cab models and 77 inches high in all crew cab models. All 2005 2500HDs were 79.7 inches wide. The bed was 78.7 inches long as a short bed and the long bed was 97.6 inches long. All beds were 64.8 inches in total width, 50 inches in width between the wheel wells and 19.5 inches deep.
- The 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD was the 1-ton pickup of this model year. It was 222.1 inches long in regular cab; 246.5 (four-wheel-drive) to 246.6 inches (two-wheel-drive) with an extended cab; and 256.2 inches in crew cab. All regular and extended cabs were 76.3 (two-wheel-drive) to 76.7 inches (four-wheel-drive) high and all crew cabs were 77.3 inches high. The width of 96.1 inches remains the same regardless of cab and bed changes. The bed, in all cab designs, was 97.6 inches long, 50 inches wide between the wheel wells, 64.8 inches in overall width and 19.5 inches deep.
