How to Make a Headphone to Phono Cable
- 1). Cut the 1/8-inch headphone connector off an existing cable.
- 2). Use the wire strippers to remove 1 inch of insulation from the cable.
- 3). There will be three wires exposed; a white one, a red one and one with no insulation. Strip 1/2 inch of insulation off the red and white wires.
- 4). Cut the phono connector off an existing cable.
- 5). Again, use wire strippers to remove 1 inch of the outer insulation.
- 6). There will be a red wire, a white wire and one wire with no insulation. Remove 1/2 inch of insulation from the red and white wires with the wire strippers.
- 1). Twist the red wires from each cable together and solder the connection.
- 2). Twist the white wires from each cable together and solder the connection
- 3). Twist the two remaining wires with no insulation together and solder the connection
- 4). Use electrical tape to wrap each individually soldered connection. Ensure that bare wire from each of the three connections does not come in contact with any other wire.
- 5). Use electrical tape to wrap all finished and wrapped connections together into one cable.
