    • 1). Ensure the Dell S2009W monitor is still plugged into the power source. The black power cord extending from the rear of the display needs to be either directly inserted into a wall outlet or into a surge protector, which is the ideal configuration for the safety of your monitor and other electronics. If you are utilizing a surge protector, ensure its plug is also still in the wall outlet and that the surge protector is turned on.

    • 2). Check the Dell monitor's connection to the computer if the Dell's screen is unresponsive and not displaying any information. This monitor establishes its connection to a computer using the newer DVI standard, which is a digital method of sending and receiving signals. The included DVI cable will have a rectangular, multi-port plug that is color-coded white. The back of your computer will house a white-coded DVI port. Ensure the cable is inserted into this port and no other port on your computer.

    • 3). Ensure the monitor is powered off and that its power cord is disconnected if display problems continue. Also, disconnect the Dell display from the computer or device it is currently plugged into via the DVI cable.

    • 4). Examine the bezel of the S2009W monitor. This is the glossy black perimeter that runs around the display. Along this bezel will be a number of glossy plastic screw seals that conceal the screws beneath them. Utilize your fingertips or the edge of a flat-head screwdriver to pry under the seals and pull them up and off the bezel.

    • 5). Remove the bezel screws using a Phillips screwdriver. Take care to save these screws for when you reassemble the bezel later.

    • 6). Pry between the bezel and the rest of the display using your fingers. The bezel is now loose, so creating a little separation with your fingertips will be all that is necessary to pry off and remove the bezel.

    • 7). Check the Dell monitor's inverter board. This thin, rectangular board can be seen at the bottom center of the device now that the bezel is removed. It is characterized by two connectors that sit on each of its ends. Ensure there is a cable plugged into each of these connectors; otherwise, the monitor will continue to fail to operate properly. The left cable controls general video functionality, while the right controls the backlight functionality. If one or both of the cables is disconnected, lift up on the connector(s), slide the cable(s) back in, and then apply pressure on top of the connector(s) to snap each back down.
