One common wax removal remedy is to use oil to lift the stubborn wax. Oil naturally dissolves hard wax. It is even used to remedy ear wax problems. To use oil as a Zip Wax remover, simply cover the remaining wax residue with baby oil or another oil of your choice. Using a terry cloth, gently rub the Zip Wax off the skin. Continue rubbing softly until you have lifted the hard wax residue completely from your skin. You may add more oil as needed. - Coarse hair may need thicker layers of wax.honey image by Ekaterina Shvigert from Fotolia.com
To prevent Zip Wax, or any other hard wax from sticking to your skin in the future, simply apply a light, pre-wax oil to your skin just before waxing. Oil creates a barrier against the wax that prevents it from sticking to the skin, while allowing the hair to be removed. Oiling the area is preferable to powdering it with talcum powder, another common sticking prevention method, because oil gives the added bonus of conditioning the skin. To achieve the best wax, avoid drenching the skin in oil, as this will prevent the oil from grasping the hairs during waxing.
When you smooth the wax onto the skin, press firmly and make sure that the edges of the wax are slightly thicker than the rest of the section. This will prevent the wax from breaking as you attempt to lift the section and remove the hair. If you are using waxing strips, ensure that the edges of your muslin strips are slightly thicker than the rest of the strip to prevent similar tearing.
